In light of excitement about the introduction of CUDO, we were contacted this week by another independent design organization.

Last year, Jason Early, a senior in graphic design at Illinois State University, founded a student design organization called “crossplatform”. The group has similar goals to CUDO, and will be hosting a free lecture by Jay Ryan as their first “big” event. We hope to keep in communication with crossplatform in the future and are really excited to hear that groups like this are succeeding.

We encourage you all to make it out to this event!

ISU NAEA and crossplatform Announce the Presentation “Jay Ryan Explains Everything About Everything, and Makes a Mess Along the Way.”

Illinois State University, Center for the Visual Arts Room 149 Normal, IL 4:00 p.m. February 19, 2009

Jay Ryan will talk about his work as a printmaker and owner of the Bird Machine. Jay Ryan has been designing and printing posters since 1995. He began with promotional material for his own band Dianogah and now creates posters for venues, events, and bands such as Mudhoney, My Morning Jacket and The Decemberists.

The Bird Machine, Inc. is a screen print poster workshop, owned and run by Jay Ryan. http://www.thebirdmachine.com.

crossplatform is a Registered Student Organization on Illinois State University’s campus created as a way for students to support the graphic design program at Illinois State University. The organization is active in organizing design based lectures, offering outside of class experience to students and by being peer mentors to students in the beginning classes of the design sequence.
