Biomimicry: Innovation inspired by nature
Tuesday, November 10, 5:30
Krannert Art Museum Room 62
Auditorium 500 East Peabody Drive, Champaign, IL 61820
Our living world is an R & D laboratory some 3.8 billion years old. Many of the problems we face have already been solved by organisms as diverse as boxfish and lily pads, abalones and geckos. Denise DeLuca of The Biomimicry Institute, will talk about the ways in which nature can inspire sustainable solutions for the worlds of design, business, and engineering.
Denise DeLuca is a professional engineer and a LEED-accredited professional. As outreach director for the Biomimicry Institute, Denise works to advance the concepts, and tools of biomimicry, and to integrate biomimicry into university-level education. She has run her own sustainable resource consulting business, and recently moved to Bangor, Wales (UK). Denise looks forward to spreading the seeds of biomimicry from her new home base in Europe.
